When tragedy strikes…

‘Faith is letting God do his thing despite our own desires. In other words, it is allowing God to give us those things that we have need of in the way he knows to be best’. Paraphrased. (Leslie Haskin, from the book HELD).

When tragedy strikes, the normal human response is to ask questions (especially WHY?). God is sovereign enough to answer and defend himself but more often than not, he wants us to trust him completely and may choose not to give us all the answers right now, but further along we’ll know more about it and further along we’ll understand why. For what God can prevent in his power, he sometimes allows in his wisdom. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). No matter the trying circumstances (pain, abuse, death, loss, sickness, heartache, failure, disappointment and so on), God is ever mindful of us and we can always trust him.
